What this Blog is All About.

Well, after considering this for some time and having gathered a rather extensive collection of writing I finally decided it was time to enter the blogosphere. The past twenty years or so of my life have been a journey of searching, understanding & discovery. Whether I will ever figure out this thing called life or not remains to be seen. One thing is certain I will never give up the search to understand our purpose, if such a thing exists,  or how things work. I am intensely curious and analytical and have an insatiable need to figure out how things work and this realm we call reality and what influence, if any, we have may have on influencing it. As such, I have spent many a year and many an hour watching and reading many things science related, both cosmic, atomic and quantum. Many spiritual books and programs whether New Age, old age, biblical and anything in between. Like many if not most in today's Western society my life has revolved around me and my wants and needs at the expense of those most precious to me, both friends and especially family. As a result of my own self centered ego driven life I missed most of my children's most precious years and have greatly influenced the trials and struggles they now face in their early adult life. Oh how I wish I could go back and start over given the knowledge I have now as surely I would do things differently.  Yet wouldn't many of us. But sadly there is no past and there is no future, there is only the present moment.  The past is nothing more than memories, whether good or bad, yet it is astounding how the past almost always controls our present moment. The decisions and choices we make are often based  subconsciously on those past experiences, influences and programming we've been exposed to. Unfortunately for many, including myself, those choices, decisions and beliefs that influence my life in this present moment are a direct result of that very past. Being exposed to and growing up in dysfunctional family environment of alcoholism and co dependency does not make for a healthy adult life. And I know I am far from alone in  this experience.  Our whole world is one of dysfunctionality and although we like to think we are, as a species, the most intelligent creature on the planet it does not take much if one stops to reflect, to see the insanity of humanity. Yes as intelligence is defined, man is indeed highly intelligent, yet amazingly stupid and dumb at the same time. Scientifically and technologically we have advanced exponentially in the last several hundred years while continuing to fail miserably both morally and ethically. In our so called intelligence we have and continue to plundered, pillaged and poison our environment.The 20th century experienced some of the most heinous, grievous genocides in recorded history as well as two world wars. On a smaller scale we have seen a marked increase recently is mentally unstable people going on shooting rampages, mostly in the USA and involving predominantly youth or young adults, an increase in road rage incidents among otherwise sane people, increased drug abuse and addiction in spite of the known health & societal affects, a huge increase in cosmetic surgery and on and on it goes.
  The question that has to be asked is why? What is the cause of this insanity? This and other things is what this blog will be about. But much of what I write and have written will carry what most would consider to be a religious bent as much of what I write pertains to what comes from the Christian Bible and the message and teaching of Jesus Christ and it's significance for us today.
  I prefer to leave the religion aside because frankly, Jesus, God, and the underlying message contained in the Bible have nothing to do with religion. It is man in his ignorance that has taken, I believe, the gospel of truth and made a religion of it. I hope to show this through some of my ramblings here. For those so inclined I believe that if you'll do as the Berean's did in Acts 17:11 which was to "receive the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so" and apply these principals daily to your life you will see a change. This is not a quick fix, which is the way of the world, rather it will take time and diligence for what man ever planted a garden today expecting a harvest tomorrow.
 Why do I feel or think that the Bible is the ultimate life manual in spite of many things questionable? Because through applying these principals to my own life I have experienced or otherwise been set free from addictions, experienced provision, restoration, and a confident trust and faith that all my needs will be met regardless of the circumstances I'm facing.
  The other difficulty was learning how to interpret the Bible and much of it's message more from a symbolic and metaphorical point of view rather than from the traditional Christian literalist view as well as looking at and understanding it through  the original classical Greek and Hebrew languages. English translations often do a poor job of bringing forth the true meaning of many of the words and their true definitions.
 In 1945 thirteen codices were found in upper Egypt's Nag Hammadi  with one of these texts being the "Gospel of Thomas"
The first two verses of this text read as such and are said to be the words of Jesus as transcribed by the apostle Thomas Didymus;
1. And he said, "Whoever discovers the interpretation of these sayings will not taste death."
2. Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]"
   The message is clear, keep seeking until you find the truth. When you do find that real truth it will initially be disturbing because it will go against everything that you have been taught to believe, it will shatter your very reasoning and understanding of the very universe, it's nature and your perception of reality both physical and non physical. But, once you grasp the knowledge of this truth, you will marvel at the simplicity of it and will subsequently reign over all. Every situation and circumstance that you will ever face just as Jesus walked on water, turned water into wine, fed thousands with a few fish and loaves of bread etc. Many will laugh and say impossible I know, I was one them and have yet to reach that place of complete understanding. But each day I continue to seek I get a little closer, a little more understanding. experience a little more of that eternal unseen realm. Each day I experience and become a greater partaker of the divine nature. How? through believing and acknowledging "that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.  For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust." 2 Peter 1:3,4.
 My hope is that some of you will benefit from what I have to share. It is those that hunger and thirst the most that will benefit the greatest. If it only causes you to ponder or rethink what or how you currently perceive this world and our reality than I have accomplished what I have set out to do. That is to cause you to think outside of the box and question your current understanding of reality as we now think we know it.
